A company curious
about how we live
with technology.

WholeArc studies how design, technology and human behaviour shape everyday life, and builds thoughtful products, experiences and writing that make life easier.

We pay attention to the small moments where technology meets ordinary routines: the notification that pulls you back in, the default nobody remembers choosing, the form that takes three attempts. Moments like these shape our attention, habits and decisions more than we tend to notice.

What we learn goes into our own products, starting with Steady, and into writing anyone can read. We also work with organisations that want their digital experiences to be clearer and easier to use.

Why we started
asking questions.

Technology keeps getting more capable, and it's part of more of the day than ever. Yet a lot of it still feels harder than it needs to be. Apps ask for more attention than they give back. Settings hide the choices that matter. Simple tasks take more steps than they should.

Most of this isn't accidental. It comes from decisions about defaults, prompts and incentives, usually made out of sight of the people using the product.

WholeArc exists to look at those decisions closely, ask whether they still serve people, and build better alternatives where they don't.

What we
believe.

03 principles
01

Clarity over complexity

Useful technology should be easy to understand. People shouldn't have to work harder than necessary to get something done. Before we add a feature, we look for what we can take away.

02

Respect for people's attention

Time and attention matter. Not every product needs more engagement, more notifications or another streak to protect. We'd rather build something people use when they need it, then put down.

03

Understanding before assumptions

Good decisions start with questions, observation and evidence, not with assuming we already know what people need. We say what we know, what we don't, and where we're still guessing.

WholeArc — helping people with thoughtful technology
How WholeArc works

Understand first,
then build.

The same five moments carry everything we make — products, experiences and writing alike. That movement — from an honest problem to something people can use — is the whole arc.

The process
Step 01
Understand the context
Start with the situation as it actually is — the people, the constraints, the history and the evidence already there. No answers before the understanding.
Step 02
Identify the real opportunity
Research, data and cultural observation until the noise thins out. The first question is rarely the one worth answering.
Step 03
Shape the direction
Turn evidence into a clear proposition, product direction and scope. One decision everyone can repeat without the deck.
Step 04
Design and build
Products, experiences and writing — made properly and only as large as the idea needs. Concrete always beats abstract.
Step 05
Launch and learn
Put it in front of real people, watch what actually happens and improve it. Launch is the middle of the arc, not the end of it.
